Running Down a Dream

This weekend I had a chance to witness an amazing sight, thousands of marathon runners...like a lunatic I was one of them! For 26.2 miles you have a lot to think about: "...ouch, feet, future, internships, burning feeling in my quadriceps, optimism, life..." But after 80,000 steps you draw many parallels between running and life:
  • Set your goals and work towards them.
  • Not every day is going to be easy, it might snow, be pouring rain or blazing hot, but you have to keep going.
  • You have to work for what you want.
  • Set short distance goals up ahead, knowing that with enough of them, you will make it to the finish line.
  • Friendship will get you through -- have someone on your side, encouraging and keeping you accountable.
  • Enjoy what you have around you, if you are so preoccupied watching your feet hit the ground, the world will pass you by.
